Just figured I'd share a bit of sketching I did last night of Genesect as I thought over its design. Using the back sprite and front sprite as references (since they're the only official ones we have) I mapped out a few details in an attempt to try to figure out how Genesect will look when it's revealed.

I've drawn five different versions of Sugimori-style Genesect art, with the intent of each new piece to get as close as possible to how Sugimori's art will look when it's revealed. Just going by this sketch you can see the level of detail I look into when drawing it. No matter how right or wrong an I am, though, what it comes down to is style - the shape and overall look of certain parts of the body determine how right it looks in the end. That's what I aim to perfect with each new piece.

Maybe this'll help others when drawing Genesect and trying to get the details right? A lot of the details here may be proven wrong when it's officially revealed (mainly the face - that's a huge question mark as-is), so take that into account when using this as a reference.

Interesting how you found out about a few things about Genesect's design (like the button) a month ahead of the reveal of its Sugimori art.

I want to see an original form of genesect, before team Plasma revived and modified this ancient insect. Most of what I've seen has genesect cannonless... but that's not true since Team Plasma only "Modified" it, so, even before it became super mecha genesect, it had a cannon, cause, after all, it was still a pokemon, hell, even blastoids has 2 death cannons growing on it's back naturally.

It puts Genesect together in a reasonable prespective. It kinda puts you right there. I can almost see the ancients of Unova planing him. Though it was not origanaly meant to have the cannon. Team plazma put it in,claiming it had power beyond any cannon in exsitance. Unfortunetly for them this was true.It nearly destroyed the lab.Then a young trainer calmed its wrath,and Genesect reconized this this trainer as it's partener. This legend is based on the Japeneze versoin of the Genesect event, in witch you must capture Genesect. Anyway it's good!

... you can't catch Genesect. It's event only. And there is no "ancient civilization" responsible for Genesect's modification or a legend of a trainer calming it. Plasma reconstructed it and it disappeared.

IIRC, none of what you said is present in the Japanese version. The guy just talks about how he developed Genesect, N cancelled it, and how he (Dudley, not N) left Team Plasma in resentment and finished Genesect independently. No ancient civilisations, no legends, nothing.

you know when i look at genesects legs they look like they can fold in on itself. mabe genesect can change some how. the description did say that genesect was modified by plasma scientists to be a weapon :/
