My artwork for Altaria. I've dreaded drawing Altaria thanks to the way Sugimori colored its clouds (sooo complex!), but I finally got the courage to take it on. I'm pleased with how it turned out.
Today was like some sort of crazy awesome sketch day, or something, because I got three other Pokémon sketched: Sneasel, Flareon v.2, and Azumarill! Hopefully I'll be able to get them done this weekend.
Please don't use any of my artwork, including this piece, without my permission. Thank you.
It varies from piece to piece, depending on the complexity and how I'm feeling. Sketching them can take anywhere from ten to thirty minutes, then outlining the sketch can take up to thirty minutes. Coloring is normally the easiest part, but if a Pokémon's coloration is complex, it can take a while. So anywhere from ten minutes to an hour. So on average... I'd say fifty minutes.
Hee hee, colouring is the easiest part for me too. It's probably because the lineart's already there, giving you the boundaries to work in, that makes it easy
With lineart I typically have to backtrack if I do something wrong. Same for sketching.
I'm not a big fan of Altaria, but this pic might change my mind ^^
What designates this pokemon as a dragon anyway? They say it's the "Humming Pokemon" but it dosen't even look like a hummingbird (though it does say that it hums) They really need a legit hummingbird pokemon, which is what I'm looking forward to in the 5th gen. (they've already pleased me with the long-awaited creation of a Zebra pokemon and Eagle pokemon)
I loves it soooo much! No offense to Sugimori, but I love your versions of pokemon better, especially this one!
How long does it normally take you to draw one of these?
